Overview

The Clinical Nutrition Unit at Al Nas Hospital’s Endocrinology & Diabetes Department is dedicated to providing specialized nutritional care for patients with diabetes. Recognizing that diet plays a central role in diabetes management, the unit develops individualized dietary plans that optimize blood glucose control, prevent complications, and support overall health and wellbeing. The team works closely with endocrinologists, diabetes educators, and psychological support specialists to deliver a comprehensive and patient-centered approach.

Scope of the Unit

The Clinical Nutrition Unit focuses on translating medical and dietary knowledge into practical solutions for daily life. Patients receive ongoing guidance on healthy eating, meal planning, carbohydrate counting, and portion control, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and long-term success. The unit also addresses special populations such as children, pregnant women with gestational diabetes, and patients with obesity or lipid disorders.

  • Diet Therapy & Counseling: Individual and group counseling sessions for managing blood glucose levels, dyslipidemia, obesity, and complications related to diabetes.

  • Lifestyle & Weight Management: Programs designed to support weight loss, improve insulin sensitivity, and promote healthy physical activity.

  • Education & Support Programs: Structured workshops on carbohydrate counting, food label reading, and practical cooking skills to empower patients and families.
