Dr. Abeer Awad, MD, PhD

Dr. Abeer Awad is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, Hepatology, and Gastroenterology at Cairo University, and currently serves as Director of Endoscopy Units and Consultant of Hepatology, Gastroenterology, and Endoscopy at AlNas Hospital.

She earned her MD in Internal Medicine with a subspecialty in Hepatology and Gastroenterology from Cairo University, where her doctoral research focused on novel biomarkers and renal duplex for kidney function assessment in liver cirrhosis. She also holds an MSc in Internal Medicine with a thesis on thyroid hormone abnormalities in cirrhosis and graduated with honors (Excellent with distinction) in Medicine from Cairo University.

Dr. Abeer has advanced through several academic roles at Cairo University, from Assistant Lecturer (2014–2018) to Lecturer (2018–2024), and since 2024 as Associate Professor.

With extensive expertise in hepatology, advanced endoscopy, and complex gastrointestinal and liver diseases, she is recognized for her clinical, academic, and research contributions. She is also a member of the first advanced endoscopy team in Egypt and the MENA region, pioneering innovative techniques such as per-oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) and endoscopic tumor resection.
