Dr. Mohamed Azzam is an Associate Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Cairo University. He graduated from Cairo University in 2009 with high merits and completed his internship and observership at UNAM University Hospital in Mexico and Kasr El Aini Hospital in Cairo. He earned his Doctorate in Cardiothoracic Surgery in 2017 and his professional journey was enhanced by becoming a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2019.
Dr. Azzam has led the Cardiothoracic Surgery Operation Rooms at Cairo University Hospital since 2018. A pioneer in his field, Dr. Azzam was instrumental in introducing minimally invasive procedures for both cardiac and thoracic surgeries. His expertise and leadership led to his promotion as Deputy Director of all Surgical Operations units. In 2021, Dr Azzam joined AL NAS hospital for his efficiency, integrity and distinguished leadership, as a Consultant in Cardiac Surgery, specializing in both adult and neonatal cardiac surgery.
As an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, Dr. Azzam is actively involved in training medical students, residents, and cardiothoracic fellows. His research focuses on clinical and translational aspects of neonatal surgery and right ventricular outflow tract reconstruction. Since 2017, he has performed over 1,500 surgeries as part of a nationwide program in collaboration with NGOs, providing critical care and surgeries to children and adults in underserved regions of the country.
Dr Azzam is dedicated to his journey driven by both his personal aspirations and professional achievements ,to offer hope and care to all his patients , particularly children with little hearts.
